Meridian Regionals 2015: Who to Watch
This weekend, the first ever Meridian Regional is taking place at the Ballerup Arena in Copenhagen . This new region combines Europe and Africa, making the event more competitive than ever before. Plenty of UK athletes are currently making their way to Denmark, ready to fight for the chance to win a spot at the CrossFit Games in July. Here are our top picks for the weekend:
How to Prepare for Your First Competition
This year’s spring Rainhill Trials are fast approaching, with many of you looking forward to your first ever competition. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when preparing for a competition, especially if you’ve never done it before, so we put together a few tips to get you started
Darren Freeman's Road to the Masters
The CrossFit Games masters' qualifiers took place last month, leaving the rest of us in awe at the incredible skills, strength and fitness on display. We caught up with Darren Freeman, co-owner and head coach at Train Manchester, to find out all about his journey to the masters. Here's what he had to say:
15.5 | Quad Burn
15.5…… After 5 weeks of ups and downs, here we are with the final open workout of 2015. Firstly it was great to see friend of Kitbox Samantha Briggs show everyone she is still, in our opinion, the best athlete in the world live in Vegas! Awesome work Sam. Now we look ahead to see how Joe, Josh, Darren, Chloe, and Pippa are going to tackle the WOD.
15.4 | The CrossFit Open goes upside down
15.4…… We see handstand press ups enter the CrossFit Games Open for the first time – with the scaled division now an option we have definitely seen the WODs include heavier weights and more complex gymnastic movements from the beginning.
15.3 | muscle ups
15.3…… a genius bit of programming from Dave Castro – it will be great to see lots of people getting their first muscle up during this WOD.
Welsh National Weightlifting Championships - it all comes down to 6 lifts
This week running up to the Welsh Championships has been really enjoyable.
It's the first time I have ever tapered into a competition and I am really feeling sharp. It has allowed me to focus on speed under the bar, hitting lifts consistently, and building confidence in the run up to the weekend.
15.2 | You gotta love a redo
This week we are looking at 15.2, a couplet of overhead squats and chest to bar pullups, that gets longer and harder the more rounds you complete within 3 minute cut-offs with. We are also joined this week by veteran competitor Darren Freeman, and Josh Completes the WOD at CrossFit Soul in Miami with Sam Briggs.
15.1 | Here we go.......
Here is what the Kitbox Athlete’s think of 15.1 and 15.1a
Welcome to the Open 2015
The Open is a truly global event which brings together the community as a whole: from athletes with regional aspirations to those who have been training for a matter weeks - The Open is for everyone. Its a really great opportunity to bring the gym together too with a lot of affiliates putting on special sessions to get everyone through the WOD and creating a real party atmosphere.
The Titan Tour 2015 - Part 1
If I was to say I wasn’t nervous about how the tour would be received I would be telling a massive lie! Myself and Sonny have set out to do something that no other British lifter has ever done and that is to tour the UK with the aim to introduce a more professional level of weightlifting into crossfit boxes while also (hopefully) raising a big bag of cash for the very deserving charity ‘HELP FOR HEROES’
My Journey Into Powerlifting
My name is Nicole Dash and I am a competitive powerlifter in the 55 kilo weight category. I have only been powerlifting for two years but I can safely say it very quickly became a huge part of my life.
