Brand of the Month - PurePharma
PurePharma have been one of the leading supplement providers of the functional fitness world since they launched their first product in 2009. Their commitment to producing high quality supplements shines through in everything they do - so we thought it was about time we made them our brand of the month!
Founded in Denmark in 2009, PurePharma responded to the industry's need for a transparent, reliable and high quality supplements brand. Their business model was (and still is) simple: they create natural products, to help keep us healthy - filling the gaps often left by the traditional Western diet.
This is why they have a small product range. Their focus is on quality - not quantity - and each product is designed to provide a very specific benefit to the athlete. They bridge the gap left by the most common vitamin and mineral deficiencies. According to PurePharma, these deficiencies are caused by a decline in the quality of fresh produce through the overuse of pesticides and modern farming practices.
Introducing the Products...
At the moment, PurePharma have five supplements available - as well as PurePharma-3, which gives you a daily dose of their three essential vitamins and minerals. Here's what you need to know:
PurePharma's O3 was their first product to hit the market, and it's still popular today. It contains ultra pure fish oil, made from super fresh fish. Omega-3 helps keep your heart healthy, so you can smash every workout, as well as improving your immune system and recovery.
Not only is O3 one of the highest quality fish oils you can buy, it's also certified by Friends of the Sea, and each batch is tested for quality by the International Fish Oil Standards. This means you can be sure you're getting the best quality, without impacting the environment or sustainability.
Next up is D3, PurePharma's Vitamin D supplement. There's been a lot of press about Vitamin D recently, with some government advisors suggesting we should all be taking a supplement to improve our health, and prevent deficiencies.
There aren't many Vitamin D rich foods - and most of us get our Vitamin D from the sun's UVB rays. In the UK, especially at this time of year, it's almost impossible to get what your body needs in this way - so it makes sense to add a high quality Vitamin D supplement to your diet.
PurePharma's D3 is combined with coconut oil, to maximise the amount of Vitamin D absorbed by your body. It plays an important role in bone strength, muscle function and immunity.
M3 is PurePharma's answer to a ZMA supplement. It contains magnesium and zinc - two essential minerals your body needs to function, and recover, at its best.
The role of magnesium in the body is HUGE - but it can be difficult to get enough from your diet alone. If you're training regularly, it's essential you get enough magnesium as it plays an important role in the recovery process.
Many people also claim magnesium helps them sleep better - so try taking it before bed to make the most of this benefit.
PR3 is PurePharma's first protein supplement - but, really, it's much more than that. It's three supplements in one, giving your body exactly what it needs to recover after you hit your next WOD. It contains:
- Coconut water, to replenish lost electrolytes.
- Organic rice protein, to rebuild your muscles.
- Bioactive collagen, to repair tendons, ligaments and cartilage.

Gut health is a big topic in the health and fitness world right now, and with good reason. SB3 contains both probiotics and prebiotic fiber, to keep your gut happy and healthy.
This is important for your immune system, but research suggests healthy gut bacteria can influence everything from optimal nutrient absorption to your mental health.
SB3 also includes a decent dose of Vitamin C, which can help repair any wear and tear within the body.
