Brand of the Month - Hurley
At Kitbox, we bring you the best clothing and equipment for functional fitness. It's what we do, and we think we're pretty good at it. We source products from across the globe, handpicking brands that stand out from the traditional world of fitness.
So, our decision to add this month's Brand of the Month to our product range was a no-brainer. For functional fitness, Hurley is one of the biggest success stories of the 21st century. If you've tried their products, you'll understand why! If you haven't, here's everything you need to know...
In 1998, Bob Hurley decided it was time for a new challenge, and parted ways with surfwear giant Billabong. He'd been with them since 1983, and had helped them create one of the biggest brands in the US surfing industry. They turned over $60 million in 1997 - but Bob Hurley had his sights set on something bigger.
And so Hurley International was born.
This was a huge gamble, but one that paid off. Just four years later, in 2002, the brand was sold to Nike for a reported $120 million, with Bob Hurley keeping hold of his position as CEO.
This move helped the brand expand globally, and find its way to the UK functional fitness scene.
Today, it's well known as one of the biggest clothing brands in the surfing world and beyond.
Hurley's success is no accident. It's a reflection of the quality of clothing produced by the brand since day 1 - which only continues to improve as the brand grows.
Their board shorts are designed to offer the best in terms of comfort, performance and style.
Although different sports, the movements required to dominate the waves mimics those you'll find in the box.
This makes Hurley one of the best clothing brands for any WOD. Their shorts are lightweight and flexible, offering unrivalled range of motion. This makes them perfect for squatting, jumping - and whatever else your next WOD throws at you!
Speed is as important on the waves as it is in the box. So, if you're looking for shorts that will look good without getting between you and the timer, these are for you.
