We all know recovery is key to maximising gains, and improving those all important WOD times. There are lots of products available on the market to help with this, and it can be difficult to work out which you need in your gym kit. We recently started stocking the Trion:Z recovery bracelets, worn by the UK's very own Samantha Briggs. Here's everything you need to know about them:

Who are Trion:Z?

According to their website, Trion-Z are at the forefront of polarized technology. They're dedicated to manufacturing medically-certified products, using their patented magnetic technology, to help people living an active and healthy lifestyle. When developing new products, they focus on the following areas:

  • Injury prevention,
  • Pain management,
  • Physical enhancement,
  • Mental relaxation.

What are Trion:Z Recovery Bracelets?

The recovery bracelets contain 2-3 high strength magnets, with Trion:Z's patented ANSPO technology. For the scientific among you, they have alternating north south polarity, which increases the magnetic flow. They are certified Class 1 medical devices and, as well as Sam Briggs, they're worn by many Olympians from a variety of endurance sports.

To understand how the magnetic bracelets work, we need to take a trip back to GCSE science to talk about ions!

Ions are particles, found naturally in the air, which are charged either negatively or positively. Negative ions are oxygen ions with an extra electron. They are abundant in natural environments, particularly around a water source (e.g. a river or waterfall), but are lacking in many modern environments (e.g. your office, gym and home). Here's some data from the Trion:Z website:

  • Around a waterfall: 30,000-100,000 negative ions per cubic centimetre,
  • Typical modern office: 0-300 negative ions per cubic centimetre.

That's quite a difference, but why does it matter?!

It's thought that negative ions are responsible for several processes and chemical reactions that happen inside the body - including those that enhance your recovery. When we spend a lot of time indoors, especially inside environments that lack these important negative ions, our body might not be getting what it needs.

According to Trion:Z, they also counteract the effect of positive ions, which are emitted from electrical devices, and are therefore abundant in the modern environment. Positive ions are thought to contribute to the feeling of fatigue and low energy.

The active part of the recovery bracelet is the Collontotte magnet, which produces negative ions to make up for the lack of time you get to spend outdoors each day.

Should I Get One?

If you're constantly tired, or find it difficult to recover after a tough WOD (hello, DOMS!), it might be time to take your recovery to the next level. The wristbands are small and discrete, so can be worn throughout the day for maximum benefit - even when you sleep!

The recovery bracelets have recently been used in a clinical trial (pending publication), which highlighted the decrease in pain, reduction in stiffness, and increased functioning experienced by their users.

Starting at just £19.99, we have two varieties available in the KITBOX online store. Click here to take a closer look.
