If you've been WOD-ing for a while, chances are you've ripped your hands at some point. It sucks, doesn't it?

It might sound like a minor injury, but a bad hand tear can really set you back with your training. You don't realise how much you need your hands until they're out of action! JAW grips are an awesome way to get a little extra protection. Keep reading to find out what makes them so special.

Who are JAW?

Just Another WOD (aka JAW) are an Australian brand on a mission: to improve your WOD experience!

The owner, Kym, created the concept of the JAW pull up grips with her own sewing machine. She needed a product that would help take care of her hands during WODs and stop them getting torn. When she couldn't find any products out there to live up to the task, she made some herself!

They've come a long way since then, though - their grips are now available across the globe, from here to Japan.

The JAW grips are one of our most popular products too, so we thought it was time to give them a bit of recognition in our Brand of the Month feature!

What Makes Their Products So Good?

In our opinion, the best thing about the JAW grips is that they've been designed especially for WODs.

This means you can keep wearing them for the whole WOD - you don't have to remove them when you get to the barbell. They don't get in the way at all, like some of the thicker grips can.

They're lightweight, but still provide plenty of protection - both from the barbell, and the rig. No more tears, whether you're working on your toes-to-bar or your snatch! They grip well too, so you don't need to worry about movements like kettlebell swings. To maximise the grip, especially when they're new, you can use chalk too.

If you're prone to tearing your hands, you need to give them a try. Don't just take our word for it though, here are some of the reviews left by our customers:

What Else Do You Need to Know?

The products are pretty self-explanatory, but we recommend you measure your hand before placing an order. This needs to be taken from the bottom of your middle finger, to the crease at your wrist. This is where the grips will sit, so getting the right size will ensure they're nice and comfortable. They're designed to be a tight fit - so if you're between sizes, it's better to go for the bigger one to make sure they fit.

If the grips get a bit stinky after a few WODs, no need to throw them away and get a new pair. You can give them a quick wash to freshen them up instead. Just make sure you avoid hot water and strong detergents, and don't wash them too often, as all these can impact the lightweight fabric.
